Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman are known for their compassionate healthcare and social support systems. Ideal locations for older individuals looking to settle down, they offer a great selection of programmes and facilities for the elderly. The following is a comprehensive list of Cayman senior resources.

The Pines Retirement Home

The Pines is Cayman's top non-profit retirement home. Established in 1983 by Queen Elizabeth II, it provides comfortable residential accommodations for seniors. A charitable organization, The Pines relies on donations to operate, the majority of which are received from citizens and local businesses in the islands. The institutions's residential programme oversees the care of 35 residents; medical, social, physical, emotional and cognitive needs are met via superior nursing and physician care, daily activities, exercise, outings, a proper diet and housekeeping. The Pines also offers a daycare programme for seniors who live outside the facility. Supervision, activities and socialization are provided during the day and attendees have access to many of the same services and activities as those in the residential programme. The Respite Care Programme is in place for elderly individuals who will be staying for a maximum of 2 weeks. This is ideal for seniors whose families are going to be off-island for a short period of time or for those in need of short-term care. The Pines also offers an Assisted Living Programme that allows seniors to live in one of two on-property villas. This is ideal for those requiring limited care and supervision and includes daily nursing visits.

Kirkconnell Community Care Centre

Kirkconnell Community Care Centre is Cayman Brac's premiere facility for the elderly. Established by the Department of Children and Family services, it offers a residential programme for seniors and daytime programmes for both seniors and adults who are physically handicapped or mentally ill.

Fitness Programmes

Engaging in regular exercise is a great way to stay in shape as you age. Grand Cayman's Mobile Fitness Solutions offers a Golden Ages Seniors Fitness Programme designed specifically for men and women aged 60 and over. Balance, core and flexibility are distinct focuses, in addition to light stamina and weight training. Confidence in daily functioning is improved significantly with this 2 or 3-day programme. Another option is Life Extension Sports and Fitness' Personal Training for Seniors programme. Qualified professionals develop personalized exercise regimes for seniors that are fun, safe and aimed at increasing energy and vitality.

Cayman Care Direct

Cayman Care Direct provides compassionate nursing and support to islanders in need. Staff are knowledgeable, registered or licensed and available around the clock, seven days a week. Care Direct's services include medications and treatments, personalized home nursing, health education, respite care, companionship, medical travel, consultations and more.

Hillside House is a popular facility for senior citizens. Located in George Town, the capital of Grand Cayman, it offers both residential and daytime programmes for the elderly and also serves physically and mentally handicapped adults. It is run by the Cayman Islands Department of Children and Family Services.

Golden Age Home

The Golden Age Home is a residential facility for seniors located in Grand Cayman's West Bay. Founded over 20 years ago, this retirement home is known for its kind, caring and generous staff, many of whom have been working at the institution for over a decade. Recently refurbished and expanded, the Golden Age Home is constructed to hurricane standards, including storm shutters and a generator. The facility's Residential Programme offers 20 beds and daytime programmes are available for adults in need.

Hospice Care

Cayman Hospice Care provides end of life care in the islands. A top resource for issues relating to death and grief, this non-profit organization offers superior services to residents suffering from end-stage diseases at no charge. Hospice Care is dedicated to not only honouring each and every patient but also supporting survivors, continued learning and valuing colleagues. The centre's Palliative Care Programme facilitates care for patients who prefer to remain at home and offers pain and symptom management. Cayman Hospice Care hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including a ceremony of remembrance, and regularly hosts the annual Caribbean Palliative Care Conference.
