Churches In Cayman

Religion played a very large role in the history of the Cayman Islands, and continues to be very important in the lives of most islanders today. The first religious missionaries arrived in the early 1800s and, shortly after, the structures being used as the first Anglican church were destroyed by hurricanes. The first island chapel was built in 1841 at Boatswain's Beach and the construction of many Cayman churches followed. Today, while the largest faith group in the islands is Protestant Christianity, many denominations are recognized and thriving. The Cayman Islands boast an incredibly strong religious foundation, with many communities living and practicing their faiths together in harmony.

Cayman's West Bay Church of Christ is located on Batabano Road in West Bay, Grand Cayman. The congregation is led by Minister Brother Dave Osbourne, who is assisted by many other brothers of the church. The teachings of the West Bay Church of Christ are based upon the New Testament; scripture is seen as all-sufficient, singing is a capella, saints are not venerated and services are not charismatic in nature. Bible study and both morning and afternoon worship are held here, as well as Wednesday evening bible study and Friday night youth meetings. There are many ministries within the West Bay Church of Christ, and these include evangelism, benevolence, fellowship, youth, ladies and recreation.
