Cayman Islands Schools: A Round-Up

This week, we thought we'd get into the spirit of back-to-school September with a round-up of private and public educational institutions in the Cayman Islands. Whether you're looking for the best place to send your little one for his first year, or the top destination for a post-secondary degree, we've got you covered.

 

Cayman International School

Established in 1994, the Cayman International School is private, co-educational and non-government. They offer nursery through to Grade 12 and the campus is an impressive 13 acres. The Baccalaureate World School Diploma Programme and an American-International curriculum are available at this accredited school, which also offers fantastic media technology. The application fee is CI$300.00 and tuition ranges from CI$9,013.00 annually for 5 days a week of nursery to CI$17,712.00 annually for Grades 11 and 12.

 

George Town Primary School

Located in the capital of Grand Cayman, George Town Primary School caters to students from Year 1 through to Year 6. Known for their fantastic physical education offerings, this public school also offers a range of computer technology classes, from graphics to databases and more. The school's staff are highly dedicated, and the curriculum is comprehensive.

 

John Gray High School

A co-educational public High School, John Gray offers Year 7 through Year 11 in George Town, Grand Cayman. Teaching is advanced, multi-sensory and facilitates learning through positive means while students are placed in groups of varying abilities. Special needs accommodations are available and the school's departments include humanities, English, drama, science, languages, mathematics and more.

 

The International College of the Cayman Islands

Accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools, The International College of the Cayman Islands is a non-profit, private educational institution. Founded in the 1970s and nationally recognized, students can acquire their associate's, bachelor's and master's degrees. Registered with the islands' Education Council, programmes include human development, English, economics, accounting and more. Tuition varies according to programme and the student's country of origin.

 

Lighthouse School

A public Grand Cayman school for students with special needs, Lighthouse School was established in 1976. Catering to students aged 5 to 18, they also offer an Early Intervention Programme for younger children, toddlers and infants. Staffed by highly trained teachers and support assistants, the school focuses on building relationships with their students and the students' families.

 

Residents of all ages are guaranteed a great education in the Cayman Islands. Young or old, John Gray High School, Cayman International School, George Town Primary School, Lighthouse School and the International College of the Cayman Islands are choices that offer talented teachers, exceptional programmes, exciting extra-curriculars and more.
